Can I mix the bio-stimulants (RGS, Humic12, AIR-8, MicroGreene) together?

The short answer is that yes, you can mix the bio-stimulants together, but the real question is, should you? Honestly, you just don't want to mix more than two bio stimulants together, and here's the why: 

First off, for most homeowners, there are 2 ways we can apply. One is via hose-end sprayers, such as our hose-end sprayers or the Ortho Dial N Spray, and the other is via battery sprayer, also known as a hand can or backpack sprayer.

However you choose to spray and pray, we do not recommend mixing more than 2 bio stimulants together. The reality is that mixing more than two together can and will clog up your sprayer. This just ends in wasted product and frustration. 

Secondly, the bio stimulants were really meant to be spread out over the growing season. That is how they were designed, to be applied over the course of a year, not all at once. Now, applying all of them on the same day isn’t going to hurt anything, but there is only so much that can be properly absorbed by the soil, so if you pack them all in during one miracle application you may end up wasting what can't be absorbed. 

So spread them out over a few weeks and enjoy the spraying and the praying. What you will find is that as you get more results and the lawn looks better and better, you are going to want to apply something every weekend. This program allows you to do that. Spraying a little here, and a little there, spaced out. 

Here is a basic plan for applying the bio-stimulants from the Bio-Stimulant Pack, which is what 80% of our customers are utilizing. You will see, for example, the mid-spring application calls for RGS, Air8, and MicroGreene. That is not telling you to spray them all down in one day. What that is saying is “during the mid-spring, get an application of each of these down during that time period.”

So, maybe you apply Air-8 this weekend, MicroGreene the next weekend, and then wait 3 weeks and apply the RGS. The idea is to spread them out so that goodness gets spooned in over small doses. 

Now if you are pressed for time, you can apply them all on the same day - it will not hurt anything, but again, try not to be wasteful. Just don't mix them all together in any kind of sprayer. Opt for 2 at a time!

Applying with a Quart Hose-End Sprayer

If you are using a quart hose-end sprayer, you will want to measure out the recommended amount of product to cover 2,000 square feet, place that in the empty sprayer bottle, and fill it the rest of the way with water.  You can find more information on how to do this in the video below:

Applying with a Ortho Dial N Sprayer

If you are using the Ortho Dial N Sprayer, there are some modifications we recommend that will also help the products flow better. Remember, these products were developed for professionals who use them through much higher quality and larger equipment. It’s awesome that they are available to us homeowners but to get them to flow trouble-free, there are some basic modifications to make to your Ortho that will help. The good news here is the Ortho is only a $10 piece of equipment so cutting off the filter like in the video below isn’t really a big deal.

Applying With Battery Hand Can or Backpack Sprayer

If you have a hand can or backpack sprayer, we recommend you get one powered by a battery. This will save you tons of frustration, but also make your application more consistent because a battery sprayer delivers constant, consistent pressure resulting in an even application. 

Applying from a battery sprayer, either a 2-gallon hand can or a 4-gallon backpack, you can mix products together in the tank with these caveats:

1. Be sure to fill the sprayer halfway with water first, then add the concentrates
2. Even the best battery sprayer will clog if you get too much concentrate in there so do not mix more than 2 of the products together at any time. Again, just avoid the frustration of potential clogs.
