First off, there is no perfect application schedule for these!
There is a great deal of flexibility in using the Bio Stimulant Pack. You literally can apply any of the Bio-Stimulants, any time you want and they won’t hurt anything, they are always good for the soil. We do recommend spreading them out if you have the time as your lawn can absorb those nutrients better. You can, however, apply all of them on the same day, it won't hurt your lawn, just try to be mindful that you are not being wasteful.
If you are just getting started with the Bio Stimulant Pack, we recommend that you look at our free Bio Stimulant Guide.
If you are looking for a basic plan, here is one designed by our technicians:
- Air8 - apply 6 oz per gallon per 1000 sq ft at least two times a year: March, September
- RGS- apply 6 oz per gallon per 1000 sq ft at least 4 times a year: March, April, September, October
- Humic12- apply 3-9 oz per gallon per 1000 sq ft any time of year (reduce rates in summer to 3 oz)
- MicroGreene- apply 6 oz per gallon per 1000 sq ft up to 6 times per year: April, May, June, July, August, September
We also have Allyn Hane's 1-sheeter Bio Stimulant Schedule that follows the general guidance in the FREE Yard Mastery app. The difference between the two is that the app has some nuance based on warm-season vs cool-season lawns whereas this 1-sheeter falls in between.
If you are on another application schedule, you are all good, no worries. All these plans are slightly different, but all provide the same great results. You can jump in and start using one from above, or stick with whatever plan you are already on.
Just remember that it’s not necessary to stick to any one plan, you can literally spray any of them anytime. We know that we keep saying that but if you saw the panicked emails we get from people you’d know why we keep reiterating that it’s OK TO SPRAY ANY OF THEM, ANYTIME. Haha!
Lastly, if you apply your N-Ext products with a hose-end sprayer, that counts as being watered in - but most of our folks like to run water after anyway - about 1/4".
If you used a pump sprayer, water it in with 1/2" right away - get it into the soil.
Here is a brief description of what products are found in the Bio Stimulant Pack:
- RGS - Root Growth Stimulant:
We call this the “base” product in the line.
RGS was designed to increase rooting and decrease stress pressure caused by heat and drought. It will also feed microbial life in the soil which helps to optimize your fertilizer treatments.
This one has the highest concentration of humic acid in the line at 12%.
Humic12 helps other nutrients become more available to the plants to be utilized. Think of it as a bridge between nutrients and your turf’s roots. To put it simply, applying humic acid to your lawn and watering it into your soil helps the turf roots extract more of the naturally existing nutrients from the soil AND makes the fertilizer you apply more efficient.
- Air8 - Liquid Aeration:
It is literally what its name describes: liquid aeration.
The process of “aeration” is designed to create space in the soil (especially tightly packed clay soils) so there is room for air, water, and nutrients to penetrate. The potassium hydroxide in Air8, when added to soil with water, literally breaks bonds in the soil, opening space. It literally creates a mild chemical reaction that causes soil to open up.
- 0-0-2 MicroGreene:
You will notice this is the only product that contains an “analysis” meaning, it’s the only one with actual nutrient value.
It’s a great minors blend for all grass types that also contains 2% potassium. It contains 3% iron and will give your lawn a little pop of blue-green color. MicroGreene is also spiked with 8% humic acid to help stretch the included nutrients' effectiveness and 2% sea kelp to stimulate more roots to take in those nutrients.
