Warm Season Turf:
Doveweed, Foxtail, Dollar Weed (Pennywort), Creeping Beggarweed, and more
You guys know Allyn is a fan of Celsius Herbicide for warm-season turf (Zoysia, St Augustine, Bermuda, Centipede). He mostly likes it because it’s decently gentle on St Augustine grass when many other weed controls are not, but it is also good on one of his old enemies, Doveweed.
If you live in Florida, Southern Louisiana, or even South Georgia, then Doveweed may be a problem for you. It starts to show in the middle of summer and we are getting to that point.
Celsius is great on many other summer weeds in warm-season turf including foxtail, dollar weed (pennywort), and creeping beggarweed. Although, Celsius is what Allyn terms a “professional” weed control and so it may “sticker-shock” you pretty hard when you see the price.
With Celsius, don’t spray this when it’s over 85 degrees outside. Wait until the evening when temps come down, then spray.
